punctured clouds spilling
May flowers drink greedily
everything must go
priced to move
9 to 5
find your recycled treasures
their loss is your gain
at first glance
the nude is the find
pirate’s trunk: gold and jewels
eye on wrong booty
a very different life
than a simple garden snail
it comes out
only after dusk
in its shell
it holds a knife
and it hunts
for your trail
by leaf and husk
it needs human blood to stay alive
it will kill us all
clowns, mimes and the severely vertically challenged
turning out to be anything like my family
Phobos, Deimos, Phrike, and Pan (greek gods and goddess)
Trifextra prompt. Katherine Paterson, author of Bridge to Terabithia, wrote, “It’s like the smarter you are, the more things can scare you.” We are looking for a 33-word explanation of what scares you (or your character). We already know you’re intelligent, so, according to Paterson, you should have no shortage of potential subject matter.
Good luck. Have fun.
This weekend’s challenge is community judged.
I know this is probably not quite what you had in mind…but it was my childhood dream! 🙂
Many little girls dream in pink
dream of being princesses or ballerinas
dream of tutus and glitter and tiaras
that was never my thing
When I was little….what I wanted more than anything?
Thats right…I’m talking about the Cosby show
I longed to be part of that happy family
living in a nice house full of laughter
I wanted to sit around that kitchen table
where problems were dealt with quickly and with levity
I wanted to play with Rudy and argue with Vanessa
I thought Denise was so cool and so was Theo…for a boy
Clair was a fabulous, understanding mom yet still an accomplished lawyer
and then there was the cream of the crop…the dream encapsulated:
Dr. Heathcliff Huxtable with his humor and ugly sweaters
I couldn’t imagine a better dad
~Melanie “Huxtable” Blackwell
forgive in advance
this sad, butchered retelling
watch it, I mean it!
farm boy loves beauty
goes off in search of fortune
death most untimely
grieving she enters
to Prince Humperdink
pirates, murder plots
kidnapping and screaming eel-
Andre the Giant
has huge addiction to rhymes
Dread Pirate Roberts
scales Cliffs of Insanity
chit chat and swordplay
as Inigo Montoya
is out for revenge
a six-fingered man
must prepare himself to die
for his father’s death
A battle of wits
Sicilian with Iocane
lightning sand and rodents of
the Pit of Despair
Rugen’s torture contraption
can’t trump True Love’s Kiss
Watch it or not “As you wish…”
We're all on a road to somewhere.
