By “play Scrabble” you mean defeat me in Scrabble, thoroughly and consistently.

OMG! I was in St-Pete one year ago… we could have met! 🙂
Glad to have come across your blog, Miss Melanie! 🙂 My very best and friendly thoughts from Toulouse, France, “old Europe”… 🙂 Cheers! Mélanie

  6. Hi Melanie. Thanks for the follow and for cruising around my blog a bit. Yours looks very interesting as well. 🙂

  7. Hi Melanie,
thank you for visiting my blog…and I am definitely going to be viewing yours, especially since you have two cats who are also authors. I do not own a cat or have one for a pet either—as it just dawned on me—from my limited observations, cats “own”: their owners…LOL…SO, your cat liked
ATLAS SHRUGGED??? That would be a great discussion—I found the author a very disappointing person…especially since our own Paul Ryan seems so taken up with her politics. In any case, I have returned the favor and am now following your blog and am looking forward to reading MORE of you!

    • Thank you as well. You are correct the cats rule the household and never let us forget that the Egyptians once worshiped them and we should do the same.

And as far as Atlas Shrugged goes…It is one of my favorites. Ayn Rand was not perfect, in fact she was very fallible as are all human beings…but that doesn’t take away from the book for me. And don’t get me started on people twisting and misusing words to support their own agenda. My dad did that all the time except it wasn’t Atlas Shrugged but the Bible he was quoting.

Oh and by the way Hemingway was a drunk among a long list of other character flaws yet I still LOVE his work. Bing Crosby was rumored to be an abusive dad, yet I still love his voice and sing along to White Christmas every year. So I guess what I’m saying is sometimes we have to separate the person from their art.

Anyway, I look forward to more discussions with you. It should be fun!

Indeed your passion will bring forth the well deserved honor and prosperity. I am so touched by your life. Keep breathing!

    • Thank you. It really is so nice to be embracing my word world again. I feel so much more at peace this last month than I have in ages. 🙂 Miss you and wish we were not so far away so we could actually sit down for a cup or tea or one of your wonderful Armenian coffees!

  15. I look forward to reading Your “Way With Words.” 🙂
I’m currently re-reading “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” after almost 30 years. So far, I am impressed with Kesey’s disordered narrative, though I think I will find the book as a whole a bit too political for my taste.

  16. I’m a scrabble fan too! my mom & bro are yet to win a single game! 🙂

Recently reread this one. (and of course then I had to rewatch the movie).
Still disturbs me, but I do love it.

  39. I just bought myself Atlas Shrugged last week. Have not yet had a chance to start it though 🙂

    • I hope you enjoy it. I find people usually love it or hate it…not much middle ground. 🙂

      • Well, I’m mostly interested in the philosophy driving it, as I’ve heard it used in relation to US style economics before. Still have not started it! How are you doing?

        • You may want to check out some of her nonfiction selections for a better understanding of that…

          The Virtue of Selfishness
          Capitalism: The Unknown Ideal
          Philosophy: Who Needs It

          for starters…

As far as her fiction AS is my favorite though I do also love The Fountainhead.

I’m doing well this rainy Monday morning 🙂 Thanks for asking!

  40. Hi,
