I just had to!

So Gigi posted this yesterday…and i just had to!  See my poem at the bottom…

Today is: No Rhyme nor reason (words for which there is no rhyming word)

I know they say you can’t make a rhyme with orange
and when I try I get stuck with something like door hinge
You can try and try for over a month
and never make a rhyme with ninth
And if you want to really understand the word bewilder
just try your best to find a rhyme for silver
and when it comes to spirit
just give it up, I don’t want to hear it!
Now some people want to rhyme with chimney
but i confess that has never been me
and while I love the color purple
you won’t get me to jump that hurdle
I guess I’m not that kind of woman
cause perhaps I’m only human

Love this. It made me smile

  2. Yay…I put you on my blog. Lots of fun and great poem.

  3. You tried so hard to make them rhyme, ’tis true,
But there are things no poet e’er can do.
For English is so cumbersome in sound,
Among the least poetic tongues around.
Perhaps that’s why we often have the gall
To not care if our verses rhyme at all.

  4. Herple rhymes with purple,
    Scots dialect for limp.

  5. There is also a mountain in southern Wales, called Blorange, which rhymes with orange.

  6. Racer X

I believe Arlo Guthrie once rhymed “orange” with “door hinge” in a verse.

  7. c u n d gulag

Bob Dylan had to rhyme “fork,” with “New York” In his song “Joey.”

Actually the whole song is like that.
