I’ve never heard a whipporwill
sing its lonely tune
I’ve never met that little boy
who’s fishing off the moon
I’ve never been caught outside
in a cat and dog monsoon
I’ve never been a perfect “10”
or swam in the blue lagoon
—
BUT
I have talked all night
and stayed awake till noon
I’ve written silly notes
to release in a red balloon
I have made quite a mess
eating spaghetti with a spoon
I’ve tromped through fields at night
to see the harvest moon
Don’t spend your life afraid
to look like a buffoon
You should do something silly
in fact, if you ask me, you should start this afternoon 🙂

‘Don’t spend your life afraid…’. One of the instances when spending=wasting. I really liked this piece, Melanie.
