Ledah

Once upon a time,

in a land far, far, away…

There lived a princess fair

with flowing locks of golden hair

Ledah dreamed both day and night

of her Prince Charming or White Knight

SCRATCH THAT

——

Ledah lived in Tampa Bay
not in some land far, far away
She didn’t believe in fairy tales
she was no princess helpless and frail
Her world did not revolve around waiting for some male
Ledah was going to blaze her own trail
She cut her hair and dyed it blue
it looked fabulous with her new tattoo
With a determined glint in her eye
she unfurled her wings, for once, to fly!

FYI the meaning of Ledah is “small winged one”.

  1. haha Melanie this is fantastic! I love Ledah now that is a proper heroine! Strong and full of spirit =)

  2. Ledah sounded like a heroine that would rescue a man (or child, or creature, or a whole village) instead of the other way around. The blue hair and tattoo were telling of her uncompromising character. Something I hope to be. ♥

  3. Lol I love how you turned it upside down. Now that’s how a real heroine should act! 🙂

  4. I love a modern take of the fairy tale. Ledah is a very cool character!!

  5. “Small winged one”? Like a mosquito…

  6. Oh yeah! Blue hair, tattoo, my kind of girl. She would never wait around for some silly prince or Knight, Na Uh… Love it.

  7. intelligent, empowered, articulate women are SUCH a turn on!!!

  8. Che è bello. I blame google translate if those words say something other than “that’s beautiful.”

  9. You have to wonder about some of those fairy tales, I like yours better.

  10. I like her, with her blue hair and tattoo and all. Sounds like she has a great spirit!

  11. Love a fairytale where a woman is strong….

  12. I would love to spend all day with a tattooed princess.
