 I

Whether critique or flattering evaluation

I hunger for your observation

like one on the brink of starvation

each word is a morsel of salvation

say what you will with no fear of retaliation

II

I write my words for me

and hope they speak to you

I’m happy everyday to see

those who choose to view

Every “Like” brings a smile

yet what I long for is your words

So, please if you find my words worthwhile

Take a second to share your words

  1. I love the beginning of the second verse, the first two lines. Isn’t that the simple truth of being a writer. Wonderfully expressed.

  2. The Like button is not working for some reason.

  3. I think this is a well captured sentiment of many poets and people in general here on WordPress. I believe most of us feels this way and I am very glad to see we are as well all working on changing it. It is different when you are not on your blog, it is not always easy to share your words or your poetry. This poem is a great step in the right direction for us all, to write and to speak and not be afraid to connect to people 🙂

  4. that’s true..I too look forward to the comments a lot more than the likes!! 🙂

  5. I do believe that you have a way with words. 🙂
This poem echoes my feelings as well. I love the line, “I write my words for me and hope they speak to you.”

  6. I’m not sure why I write the words, or who they are for, but I’m glad they speak to you. I look forward to your words, at least I know that much. LOL

The image reminds me of the movie Ghost, a powerful love story that crossed over between two spheres of life. You have a keen sense of choosing your images that perfectly complements your intentions. I honestly felt the embrace, therefore your appreciation in embracing your followers’ comments. Wow!
